NIMSGER's -37 was powered by Rory McIlroy (-12), Michael Thorbjornsen (-12), and — surprise contributor — Johnny Keefer at -13. CP made it interesting at -33 behind a monster week from Min Woo Lee (-15), but four strokes was four strokes. Tom Kim, meanwhile, took the trophy at -17. Tom Kim is owned by STAT SHEET. Tom Kim was on STAT SHEET's bench. We'll get to that.
We're getting to it. In the fever dream where STAT SHEET starts Tom Kim (-17) instead of Kristoffer Reitan (+7), they gain 24 strokes on that single slot and finish somewhere in the money instead of losing a tiebreaker to KALLAS for the basement. The total leak: 27 strokes, an optimal -32 versus an actual -5. The Norwegian mid-amateur shot seven-over. The eventual champion sat in the bench slot and watched. Reality, alas, is reality — and reality just tied you with the team that got Schauffele cut.
Homa Cup movement was loud this week. Maverick McNealy's WD dinged VANILLA for $16 in a single stroke of the pen — the biggest weekly hit on the board. Tom Kim winning the tournament sounds great until you remember STAT SHEET owns him on the Homa Cup side, meaning his climb up the OWGR just cost them $7 more. Min Woo Lee climbed from #39 to #24 and gained CP $2.02 — CP's Homa side has now clawed up $5.72 since draft day and is trending. On the diamond side, Matt Fitzpatrick nudged from #4 to #3 and gained KOVALA another buck; he's up $29.27 since January and remains the single best pick of the draft. Scheffler, cut, lost WILSON $2.75 on the week — the $71 man is finally softening at the top.
Speaking of KOVALA: with four events left in Segment 3, they lead by 35 points and are sitting on a $225 segment balance. The $100 winner's bonus is looking less like a race and more like a formality unless somebody figures out how to stop Fitzpatrick, Reed, and Wyndham Clark all in the same week. CP is the only team with a pulse behind them. NIMSGER's $25 gets them to even on the segment; KALLAS's -$25 keeps them at zero after a week where two of their starters ($34 Schauffele and $17 Straka) failed to see the weekend.
Goose egg of the week is a coin flip, but you have to give it to Scottie Scheffler missing the cut at $71. WILSON has been paying seven-figures-per-round for the world #1 all year, and this weekend Scheffler couldn't outlast a Renaissance Club that was giving up 17-under to Tom Kim. Schauffele ($34, cut) and Åberg ($29, cut) rounded out the carnage — three of the four most expensive starters this week went home Friday.
